 Trick 1: Phase 2

 (N₁ > 100 & N₂ <100 or Vice versa)

Multiply:

         107            by        98

Step 1: Find the difference of the numbers by         100 with signs.

                        107 | +7

                          98 | -2

Step 2: Multiply the differences

                        107 | +7

                          98 | -2

                                  -14

Step 3: Cross Add the 1^st number with difference of the other.

                 

                             107 | +7

                               98 | -2

                 (107 + (-2))  -14

                  = 105 – 14

Step 4: Subtract 1 from the sum and subtract the multiplicand from 100.

                (105 – 1) (100 – 14)

    Answer =     10486
